New WebLinc features help Speedo slice through the Web

From a product perspective, Speedo has set the benchmark for success in the swimwear industry. For their next generation site, they asked WebLinc to develop a system that sets the benchmark online.

WebLinc's mission and goal in developing Speedo's new site was to promote their vast selection of products and apparel, along with developing a back-end system which assured ease of use, efficient online purchasing and unique search engine queries.

WebLinc's eCommerce content management system allows Speedo the ability to promote products, categories and events with drag-and-drop ease. The site's merchandising system can suggest accessories and related products to help customers and increase online sales. A flexible discounting program makes tightly tailored and trackable offers:

  • Speedo can do whatever they dream up, and offer it immediately to their customers. The checkout system is streamlined in a manner that enables a customer to purchase online, with the minimum of steps while permitting changes and additions at will.

WebLinc developed a back-end system that ties into the company's existing warehouse system, drawing product content from their legacy inventory management and fulfillment system. Translation tables on the web site change all back-end abbreviations (BLK into Black, for instance) into consistent and consumer-friendly language before automatically queuing new product up to populate the site.

Items only appear on the site if they are in stock or are available for pre-orders; if desired, when inventory dips below established levels (which, of course, can be set individually) the item automatically disappears.
